“Shirley has painted the story of karnti – bush sweet potato. The cracks throughout the panels are the cracks formed in the earth where karnti (bush potato) lie ripe underneath.
“When you see the cracks- that means the potato is underneath. When you poke it like this it makes a li?le bit of noise, you know, that’s where the potato is”.
