Peta Riley/ Sea Shell Porcelain Lamp
ARTWORK DESCRIPTION: Hand-built from mid-fire porcelain, these light shades draw inspiration from seashells, echoing organic curves and intricate textures. The soft, translucent material captures light to create a warm, inviting glow, while the sculptural shapes mimic the fluid beauty of the sea.
ARTIST BIO: Based in Geraldton & the number one daughter of a wetline fisherman, my work inevitably references the sea. My highly patterned, ocean forms, drawings and textile, interprets coastal Western Australia in a bright maximalist story. My creative practice covers many art disciplines with the main focus being ceramics and textile design. From a young age I have been immersed in creative arts – traditional and contemporary; then going on to study visual arts at TAFE, which has led me to teaching and running my own art company and studio/gallery. The creative arts is my fulltime career.
