Upcoming Group Exhibition: Stitched & Bound
Stitched & Bound is a travelling contemporary textile exhibition presented by the West Australian Quilters Association Inc. (WAQA). Constantly evolving as it moves between venues, the exhibition showcases a dynamic selection of textile and fibre-based works that challenge traditional ideas of quilt-making through innovative materials, techniques, and conceptual approaches.
This exhibition invites viewers to explore the expressive potential of textiles – not just as functional objects, but as powerful carriers of memory, meaning, and narrative. Each work reflects a deep engagement with materiality and making, offering a tactile and visual dialogue that speaks to personal and collective stories.
Earlier in May, visiting textile artist Janeene Judge, also featured in the Stitched & Bound travelling exhibition, delivered a series of workshops at the Courthouse Gallery+Studio, offering insight into her creative process and connection to the exhibition.
Whether stitched, bound, layered, or dyed, the works in this exhibition invite reflection, connection, and curiosity – celebrating the rich possibilities of contemporary textile art.
Join us at the Courthouse Gallery+Studio this September to experience Stitched & Bound for yourself.
The Courthouse Gallery+Studio would like to acknowledge the Kariyarra, Ngarla, and Nyamal people as the Traditional Custodians of the Town of Port Hedland lands. We recognise their strength and resilience and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
