Welcome back to the Courthouse Gallery+Studio Ceramics Program!
The Hug Mug is the most welcoming project your hands could ask for. Using the ancient pinch-pot technique (17,000 years strong), you’ll craft a one-of-a-kind ceramic mug shaped solely by your own two hands. No fancy tools, no pressure – just clay, connection, and creativity.
This workshop celebrates the deep, toasty tones of our Pilbara earth, using a clay body reminiscent of this striking landscape. With rounded bottoms that nestle comfortably in your palms, Hug Mugs are as tactile as they are symbolic, making every mark is yours alone, telling a piece of your story.
Workshop includes:
+ Expert guidance on pinch techniques and surface design;
+ All materials, including firing and glazing fees;
+ Space to explore design choices that elevate the feel and function of your piece.
What to bring:
+ Water bottle;
+ Enclosed shoes (a must); and
+ Your best get-messy outfit.
The Courthouse Gallery+Studio would like to acknowledge the Kariyarra, Ngarla, and Nyamal people as the Traditional Custodians of the Town of Port Hedland lands. We recognise their strength and resilience and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
