The Art of Threadwork – with Jacqueline Craigs

Discover the delicate art of threadwork in this hands-on textile workshop with artist The Jury Art Prize 2024 category winner, Jacqueline Craigs. Using a sewing machine as your drawing tool, you’ll learn how to create intricate designs with thread on water-soluble fabric. Once sewn, the fabric is washed away, leaving only the threads behind in a lace-like, free-form artwork.

Participants will be guided through the entire process, from concept to completed piece, exploring how to mount or display their finished threadwork using natural materials like driftwood. This technique offers a unique way to blend machine stitching with fine art, resulting in elegant, airy creations such as embroidered daisies and other botanical forms.
