Artist statement: I regularly drove the 225 km trip to see my grandchildren in Los Angeles high-speed traffic. The freeway network created a maze of interweaved stacked bridges, engineering triumphs. But the freeway use, adds to over 50% of the total global emission of CO2, and the concrete structures, added another 4 to 8%.
Materials and techniques: Commercial fabrics, machine pieced, appliqued, hand embroidered, hand tied and machine quilted.
