Artist statement: After snorkelling on coral reefs, I was excited about the colours and vibrancy underwater and started depicting them in stitches and embellishment representative of any coral reef anywhere. In this journey I realised that human life is detrimental to life underwater. Coral bleaching from bleaches, poison, pesticides, fossil fuels causing global warming, overfishing and more. We are killing the ocean.
Materials and techniques: Using Crazy Patch made of recycled and repurposed fabrics. Embroidery and embellishment made with collected/gathered materials including threads, yarns, buttons, beads, shells, lace, ribbons, fishhooks, fish leather, plastic/metal shapes.
