Artist statement: Familia Chaotica (Chaotic Family) was inspired by the interplay of conflicting personalities and diverse wants in a busy family with adolescent children. Dynamic forms with intense colour represent the constant flux of roles, responsibilities and individual aspirations. Collective family needs tug in different directions, requiring continuous negotiation. Yet the whole exhibits the necessary harmonious and complementary adaptation and resilience.
Materials and techniques: Hand-dyed, batik, and commercial cottons, cotton, silk, and polyester thread, wool wadding. Machine pieced and quilted.
