Glamor In the Rain
Product Details
Drawn to the textures of natural materials, I strive to embody timeless elegance with an effortless flow. Inspired by Pilbara industry, I aim to showcase the creative potential of repurposing materials that are abundant in our region.
This body of work transforms recycled rain gear, high-vis vests, and zippy ties into fully functional and wearable evening wear. These industry-discarded garments, often overlooked, hold unique potential.
By turning them into unexpected pieces, I challenge perceptions & highlight the innovative use of materials that are plentiful in Hedland.
For this outfit, the skirt is crafted from raincoats, with a frill made from high-vis vests. Piping from the vests highlights the design, & zippy ties are used for the boning. The headpiece, earrings, & ring are also crafted from zippy ties. This fully wearable work fits a size 10. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to see the unexpected beauty in everyday materials & celebrate the creative possibility.
