Artist statement: ‘Homage to Keith’ was inspired by the street art of Keith Haring. His work spoke of authoritarian governments, abuse of power and oppressive regimes. I have chosen to re-present Haring’s dog images to acknowledge the irony of history repeating itself, as little has changed in the present-day chaos and turmoil affecting our world.
Materials and techniques: Linocut of Haring images, printed on cotton fabric, stitched to hand dyed fabric, embellished with cotton thread stitching, added cotton border. The reverse is brushed cotton.
