Artist statement: With an ever-increasing interest in the dialogue that occurs between our inner and outer worlds, Inside Out is the next step in the Cellular Memory Series. There is a sense that this abstract work has been patiently held within whilst waiting for the right moment to be expressed. Allowing it to unfold was an exercise in trusting one’s intuition.
Materials and techniques: Miniature cotton quilts shaped from hand-cut templates and stitched using free-motion quilting on a domestic sewing machine. The 3-layered pieces were arranged and attached to a discarded cotton curtain panel.
