Marul Season
Product Details
Marul Season is a photographic work capturing the tension between impermanence and preservation. It features Marul and Flame Grevillea flowers frozen in ice, printed large-scale on pearl paper, reflecting my response to local fleeting beauty in nature.
Isaac Barber is a proud New Zealander, keen gardener, and pizza enthusiast who has called Broome, Western Australia home for the past seven years. His photographic journey began in 2012 after moving to Melbourne, where he discovered a fascination with abandoned buildings—drawn to their decay, fragility, and impermanence. This early exploration sparked a passion for photography that naturally aligned with his love of travel, leading him to capture city streetscapes and landscapes across Europe and Australia.
With an eye for unique details and a knack for transforming moody moments into compelling visuals, Barber developed a distinct photographic style that quickly gained attention from social media brands and tourism agencies. His work has included photographing events for local businesses and being commissioned by the South Australian Tourism Commission.
Now settled in Broome, his creative focus has shifted to studio-based photography, influenced by the local environment and the challenges of the tropical wet season. His latest work, including the piece Preservation for Visual Stimulation explores themes of ephemerality and preservation, capturing delicate flowers frozen in ice using macro photography and studio lighting. This marks a new chapter in his artistic journey, as he prepares to exhibit his work for the first time, sharing his evolving vision with the wider art community.
