Artist statement: Mother: a woman in relation to her child.
Daughter: in physics, a nuclide is formed by the radioactive decay of another.
The daughter grows and evolves; the mother shrinks and devolves, channelling everything into the child's becoming, slowly sloughing her own identity. But this is a relationship formed in love. The mother gives everything so the daughter can become everything.
Materials and techniques: Hand printed silk organza, silk habutai, hand felted wool, porcelain and oxides, cotton, poly-cotton, polyester organza, polyester stuffing. Stitched, pinched, twined, stuffed, twisted.
