Artist statement: In Jungian psychology, flowers symbolise the self and the ability for personal growth. I am offering a quilt flower as a reminder for a positive focus in challenging times. Scripted in hand writing with suggestive words - adjectives, verbs and nouns - my flower can serve as a ceremonial object and a visual metaphor for self-responsibility.
Materials and techniques: I have used running and blanket stitches. There are 5 layers: 1 layer of wadding (with wiring), encased by 2 layers of felting topped with 2 layers of calico.
