Artist statement: The world's not just black and white. Shades of grey emerge as cultures intermingle and adapt. There's the occasional splash of red when people protest to maintain a strong belief. This version adapts a Kawandi style quilt from the Siddi tribe in Gujarat, blending my colour palette with Sunshine and Shadow setting of traditional American Log Cabin quilts.
Materials and techniques: Kawandi style quilt construction. Top and back - cotton fabrics. Batting - brushed cotton. Quilting cotton - sashiko thread. Completely hand stitched - Kantha stitching and overcasting.
