ARTIST BIO
Charlotte Robinson is a Boorloo (Perth) based expressionist painter who graduated from a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Edith Cowan University (ECU) in 2022 and currently works in the non-for-profit and arts sectors in Perth. Charlotte is also a Founding Member of the newly-established Holmes Studio artist collective.
Through her painting practice, Charlotte explores how expressive imagery can trigger empathy through the repetition of portraiture to juxtapose shifting idiosyncrasies. Charlotte’s work is interpretive and often colourful in her depictions and expands beyond the subject of portraiture to more abstract scenes and landscapes that she is attracted to illustrating and exploring.
Charlotte was awarded the Louise Macphie painter’s award in 2020 for her large-scale artwork “Jared’s head” at ECU, was a finalist in Emerge Youth Art Award in 2021, was awarded the ADFAS Young Adult prize in 2022. and the City of Belmont Emerging Artist Award in 2023. Her artwork has been exhibited at ECU for ArtsHum and WOMXN 2021, REmida Perth, Nyzstor Studio, Ellenbrook Arts and Lost Eden Creative as well as other function centres in and around Perth.
Charlotte credits her passion for painting and exhibition work to her values in community arts work. This resonates in her role as Events and Education Coordinator at REmida Perth and her front-desk role at Mundaring Arts Centre.
